Arthritis and Rheumatism

Arthritis is described to be the condition in which joints are swollen that causes lot of pain. The inflammation of joints may be due to the cartilage that is damaged caused by the movement of two bones that are in contact end to end. The sufferers will experience swelling of joints, discomfort and pain. These greatly affect the normal daily activities of an individual.

Talking about arthritis could be simply linked to inflammation of joints. The joint is a point of contact between two different bones which are covered with cartilage at end to end. Degeneration of cartilage will lead to direct contact of bone to bone causing your joints to be inflamed. So, suffice to say that damaged cartilage will result to arthritis.

On the other hand, rheumatism is described to be an acute or chronic illness condition which is described by the swelling and pain of the ligaments, tendons, muscles or joints. The word rheumatism is obtained from the Greek work “rheuma” which means swelling. Rheumatoid arthritis is the medical term for Rheumatism arthritis which is described to be the severe and painful disorder that hits the joints in your legs and arms making them swollen and inflamed.

Rheumatism arthritis is attributed by the inflammation of lining in joints while osteoarthritis is due to the wearing off of tissues that protect the bones from being rubbed to each other. Arthritis comes in different form and the most common is the osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and many more.

Rheumatoid arthritis is described to be a systemic inflammatory disorder hence, there’s a possibility that it may affect many organs and tissues of the body. Rheumatoid arthritis attacks primarily the synovial joints – known to be the movable joint of the body.

Arthritis and rheumatism are the two common type of arthritis. In short, arthritis is a term given to a large number of illnesses that affects the joints. While, rheumatism is considered to be the general name to illness that causes stiffness and pain of tendons, ligaments, bones and joints. Rheumatism does not attacks the joint perse it could be an illness of muscles called fibrositis, another form of rheumatism is the inflammation of a small sac located between the muscles or between your bone and tendon is called bursitis.

Osteoarthritis or being referred to as degenerative joint disease often affects older people. Because it is fact that as people grows older bones soften. Thus, osteoporosis is common to older women and is required to drink milk that is rich in Calcium to prevent softening of bones.

Moreover, there are available special tests for arthritis and rheumatism to identify what type of arthritis or rheumatism a person is suffering. Specific type is having its own prescription. Home remediation could be applied if the illness has just started. The patient could now undergo the treatment once the exact type is determined.

Arthritis and rheumatism can be treated, at worst this can be done through surgical operation. It could be done by joint replacement or removal of inflamed parts such tissues or organs.

Always remember that both arthritis and rheumatism are very painful. And rheumatism if remain untreated will lead to the patient to become disable.
