Understanding Your Lower Right Back Pain

Lower right back pain is quite a troublesome issue, which may ruin the ease of your daily life routines. This pain is also known as Sacro-lliac pain. You may wonder why this pain occurs. Your lower back, or lumbar area, is weight bearing part of your body. The Sacro-lliac joint is often used and abused by continuously sleeping the wrong way, sitting, or standing or walking for a long period of time.

All back pains have four main factors- tight muscles, weak muscles, joint movement, and pelvic balance. The first three factors are causes of pelvic imbalance and the final factor is the lower right back pain. When it comes to back pain in the lower right side, the main cause is the link between the Sacrum and Pelvis.

The Sacrum is a large triangular bone at the base of the spine that extends into your tailbone. The Quadratus Lumborum muscle goes from the base of your ribs to the top of your pelvis. This area of your body can develop trigger points which sends the pain to the right part of your lower back. The imbalance in the pelvis creates tension in the Sacro-lliac joint, which triggers the pain.

Most pain that is not centered around the spine is usually a minor situation. The Sacro-lliac joint has no disk; therefore, the threat of disk issues causing the pain is minimal. There is a possibility of spraining the Sacro-lliac joint, which can make the lower right back pain feel severe. Even in these situations, the threat of a major issue is non-existent.

In order to rid yourself of the annoying back pains, you must rid yourself of the causes of the burden. You can start by sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees to keep them elevated, on the proper mattress. Also, ensuring a good seat with proper back support will help eliminate the pain. Making sure you bend your knees when lifting an object is also helpful when solving your back pains. In addition, you can apply ice and heat to the area. Some people even take acupuncture sessions to rid the pain. Others simply take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil or Aleve.

Sure, you can take medications such as Vicoden for the pain, but it will not rebalance the spine and therefore will not solve the real cause of the issue. If the simple changes do not seem to help, you can always receive manual therapy from a Chiropractor, Osteopath, or Physiotherapist.

If your condition worsens are does not subside, it is always a good idea to consult your physician. Lower back pain in the right side can also be linked to kidney infection, Fibromyalagia, Osteoporosis, and Spondylitis (due to infection or inflammation of spinal joints). Make simple lifestyle changes to avoid and treat lower back pain on your right side.
