Diet for Arthritis

When a person has so much pain from arthritis he or she is willing to try anything. Some people’s doctors may recommend a diet for arthritis. A diet for arthritis can make a difference. When a person practices preventive health care on a daily basis then can help prevent flare ups of your arthritis. If you do not know what types of foods to eat on a diet for arthritis ask your doctor? Sometimes just changing a few things you are eating can help relieve the pain you are experiencing with your arthritis.

Patients who suffer from arthritis can change his or her diet for arthritis. Doctors recommend a diet for arthritis to include,

  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Proteins
  • Dairy Products

The Arthritis Foundation recommends plums, apples, strawberries, oranges, and red grapes. All of these fruits are filled with vitamins and have antioxidants that will help with your arthritis pain. To help with the inflammation that causes the arthritis pain you will need to eat Brussels sprouts, peppers, beets, and spinach.

Everyone needs protein. If you want to grow up and be strong protein is important. An awesome source of protein without saturated fats and cholesterol is legumes. Other sources of proteins for the diet for arthritis are lentils, peas, black beans, and fresh vegetables. When you cook animal products for your diet for arthritis you will need to cook lean meats and skinless chicken.

Omega-3 fatty acids are a good source of protein that is found in cold-water fish and eggs. *NOTE* Cutting back on saturated fats or Trans fats may help or eliminate the pain you are experiencing from arthritis.

A person suffering from arthritis pain can have a diet for arthritis pain that is rich in calcium. There are various sources you can get the calcium you require for your arthritis pain. Cottage cheese, milk, and yogurt have high calcium content.   Soy products, bok choy, and broccoli are very rich in calcium. Other forms of foods or drinks such as juices and cereals have calcium as well.

However, when choosing a diet to help with your pain you are suffering from arthritis make sure you are not allergic to that food. According to the Arthritis Foundation food allergies can cause arthritic pain. If you are allergic to something you stay away from it right? Well, the same goes for food.  If you are allergic to a certain type of food it can cause bodily harm. If you believe you have food allergies eliminate all dairy products and processed type foods. If that does not help try going through your food and eat something and write down how you feel after you eat it. If you hurt after you eat it take it out of your diet. If you keep records of your reactions you may actually find the root cause of your pain.

No matter what diet you try make sure you speak with your doctor and let him diagnose what type of arthritis you are suffering from so you know how to treat it. Never start any treatment without consulting your doctor first!
